What is MapleInvoice?
MapleInvoice is a Canadian small-business invoicing and accounting platform. Create branded invoices and estimates, accept Stripe / PayPal / Interac e-Transfer payments, track expenses with OCR receipt scanning, run province-aware HST/GST/PST, and let the AI Collections agent chase overdue invoices with smart reminders, payment-plan offers, and waiver-or-discount workflows. It is the invoicing surface of MapleWorkSuite, built in Canada and priced in CAD.
How does MapleInvoice compare to QuickBooks, FreshBooks, and Wave?
QuickBooks Online and FreshBooks are excellent generalist products built primarily for US small businesses, priced in USD, with Canadian sales-tax handling layered on. Wave is free but its invoicing is basic and the AI feature set is limited. MapleInvoice is built Canadian-first: HST/GST/PST per province out of the box, Interac e-Transfer auto-match, PIPEDA-compliant Canadian-hosted data, CAD pricing, and an integrated AI Collections agent that actually negotiates payment plans, waivers, and discounts on your behalf. Most customers migrate in under an hour using our free CSV / Excel import.
What does the AI Collections agent actually do?
AI Collections is an autonomous agent that runs overdue-invoice follow-up so you do not have to. It sends conversational reminders by email and SMS escalating by tone and frequency over days 1, 7, 14, and 30 past due; it offers pre-approved payment plans you configure; and as of May 2026 it can negotiate waivers (drop a late fee, write off a small balance) or discounts (10-20 percent off if paid in 48 hours) within guardrails you set per client tier. Every action is logged, every offer is reversible, and you approve any waiver above your threshold from the dashboard.
Does MapleInvoice handle Canadian invoicing with HST/GST/PST per province?
Yes. Sales-tax rules are configured per province out of the box: HST in Ontario (13 percent), New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland and Labrador (15 percent); GST plus provincial PST in British Columbia, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba; GST plus QST in Quebec; and GST-only in Alberta, Yukon, NWT, and Nunavut. Tax is computed automatically from the bill-to address, including reverse-charge for cross-province B2B sales, and GST/HST registration numbers print on every invoice as required by CRA.
What payment methods can my customers use?
MapleInvoice accepts Stripe credit and debit card payments, PayPal, and Interac e-Transfer with auto-match (we match the deposit to the invoice using the reference code so you do not have to). Pre-authorized debit (PAD) through Rotessa is available on Pro and Business plans for recurring invoices. Funds settle directly to your Canadian bank account - MapleInvoice never holds your money. Card processing fees are Stripe-pass-through (2.9 percent + 30 cents domestic), Interac is $1.00 flat per deposit, and PayPal is the standard PayPal rate.
Can I export PDFs and send automatic payment reminders?
Yes. Every invoice and estimate exports to PDF with your logo, brand colours, and signature, and can be emailed directly from MapleInvoice or downloaded for printing. Automatic payment reminders are configurable per client - send a friendly nudge 3 days before due, a reminder on the due date, and escalating follow-ups at 7, 14, and 30 days past due. Reminders include a one-click pay link, and the AI Collections agent takes over after day 30 on Pro and Business plans.
Is MapleInvoice PIPEDA-compliant?
Yes. All invoice, client, and payment data is stored on Canadian-hosted infrastructure (Maritimes and Central Canada regions) with encryption at rest and in transit. We align with PIPEDA federally and with provincial privacy acts including Quebec Law 25, Alberta PIPA, and BC PIPA. Client data is never shared with third parties without your consent, and full audit trails for every invoice send, payment, and AI Collections action are retained for the statutory seven-year minimum that CRA requires for business records.
Does MapleInvoice integrate with MapleExpense and MapleConcierge?
Yes. MapleExpense pushes scanned receipts and categorized expenses directly into MapleInvoice as billable line items or as expense entries on your P&L. MapleConcierge pushes rent and lease invoices into MapleInvoice when you operate a property portfolio, so your tenant AR shows up alongside your other business invoicing. Two-way sync with QuickBooks Online and Xero is available on Pro and Business plans for customers who want to keep their accountant in their existing workflow.
Is there a free plan for MapleInvoice?
Yes. MapleInvoice offers a free account so you can start with no credit card and no commitment. Create your free account, explore the core features, and upgrade to a paid plan only when you need more volume or advanced capabilities.
